Christmas Break 2005

This all started in December over Christmas break, although we had no idea where we were headed.

Jordan started to complain about mild back pain in December. She started Christmas break from school on December 20th and at some point her back started bothering her. We thought that she had pulled or strained a muscle because we had bought some gym equipment and she had tried it out a few times.

On December 28, 2005 she woke us up at about 4:30 a.m. She was in a lot of pain and the tops of her legs were numb.

I took her to the ER. By the time we even got to our car to leave for the hospital, her legs were fine. We arrived at Brandon Regional Hospital and she was tested for a kidney infection. The results were normal and she was sent home with Motrin and Tylenol with Coedine. We were told that if the symptoms didn’t go away after she took all of her medicine that we should contact her Pediatrician.

Over the next couple of weeks, we did visit the Pediatrician twice and they ordered an ultrasound on her kidneys. At this point, all symptoms were still leading us towards a kidney problem or a pulled muscle.

The results of the kidney ultrasound were normal, so any possible kidney issues were ruled out.
